This bird is only ~1 week old…it has already grown a lot, but nowhere near ready to leave the nest…I think it is just plain tuckered out from growing!
I managed to catch my odometer just before and just after rolling over from 99999 to 100000…better yet, I managed to catch a shot in between as well!
Found this picture I took a couple of years ago, and never did anything with it…Cleaned it up a bit, and thought I would post it…Notice the larger size image now? I will start posting bigger images so you can see more of the detail.
Well, 4 Eggs actually. This bird made a nest in my neighbours planter on her deck…snapped a quick pic of her keeping them warm. I am hoping I can get some pics of them after they have hatched…a shot of the Mom feeding one of the babies would be fantastic! (The original image is 4000×3000, and the detail is great! Anyone want this as a poster on their wall?)
Another experiment…took a screen capture of a PCB layout…selected specific layers/traces…and then fractalized it…OK…So this one has absolutely nothing to do with photography…it is just an image I reated. I suppose I could have taken a picture of the screen, but that would have been just plain silly!

I keep finding new images to try with the filter…Something about the effect that I really like.
I was out for a walk, and saw this new fence being put up….I liked the geometry/angles etc, and snapped this shot.
I tried to get the “butt end” about 1/3 from the left and the bottom (“rule of thirds" you know). And then I went to town in Paint Shop.
First, you will notice the perspective wasn’t right on…I took the picture angled downwards a bit, so I did some perspective correction. Then I cloned out the white space between the boards, as I found it a bit distracting…I also cleaned out the other distracting stuff between boards. Then I clarified, adjusted contrast/saturation, and got this:
A little better…I always like wood grains in monotone….so let’s try sepia.
Hmmm…one more thing left to try. Lets go back to colour, and add my newly discovered filter
Here are a few of my favourites…I think this effect is best left for the occasional photo…not really meant for everyday use.
Found a plug-in for my photo editing software…The next couple of days posts will be the results of my experimentation…quite abstract…a bit surreal…but there is something about these images that I really like…this may pass, and I am not sure I would want these on my walls…but they are great for a photoblog!
Whadya think? Lights in North Vancouver, at the Centenial theater…~0.25 second exposure, and move the camera as you snap the picture… the 60Hz in the lights starts to show up as “pulses” giving rise to these “waves”
What is it about flowing water, a bunch of leaves, rocks and moss…This image looks much better full size so you can see all of the details.
This bridge is not as old as this picture makes it look…I used a “histogram equalize” and sepia toning to give it that old photo look.
A little busy…but this burnt/broken/weathered tree was still striving…despite this large scar on its side.
